Today as I was driving to work, the sky was
crystal clear, the sun was shining, it was really warm and everything was
promising a beautiful day. I turned on the radio and enjoyed beautiful
recitations of the Qur’an. As I was listening I was praising God for all these
blessings that He has given us, and suddenly I heard a verse that made me jump
while I was driving. The verse goes like this: “And thy Lord shall come with
angels, rank on rank.” I don’t know how many times I have read or heard
this verse, but I never really paid any attention to what it means.
“Thy Lord shall come with angels, rank
on rank.”
After few minutes I was at work and I
hurried to open my Qur’an and check this verse, which is in a chapter I am very
familiar with. Let’s read this verse with the verses before it.
Qur'an 89:17-22 “17No! But you do not honor the orphan, 18And
you do not encourage one another to feed the poor, 19And you devour
inheritance all with greed, 20And love wealth with abounding love. 21No!
When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 22And thy
Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank.”
Thy Lord… shall come… with angels… If I had
never read the Bible this verse would probably mean nothing to me. We read in
the Bible:
Matthew 16:27 (NIV) "For the Son of Man is going to come in his
Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each
person according to what he has done."
Matthew 25:31 (NIV) "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and
all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly
glory."
Mark 8:38
(NIV) "If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and
sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his
Father's glory with the holy angels."
Luke 9:26
(NIV) "If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will
be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and
of the holy angels."
Yes, my Lord Jesus Christ will come with
angels and its written right there in the Qur’an as it is in the Bible.
